South Bay Police Training Committee

The South Bay Police Training Committee:

seeks to enhance the public safety training of its members
keep agencies in compliance with POST Training mandates
seek out innovative and industry-leading training classes
work to standardize hardware and software related to officer training
strive to collaborate with all participating agencies to leverage knowledge and experience for all organizations.

The Committee comprises Training Managers from each department and meets consistently at local agencies throughout the South Bay. The Committee will meet with the Advisory Board (comprised of three Police Chiefs) quarterly for updates, direction, funding and expense reporting, and general discussion on current issues related to police training.

Care for Blue Initiative

The Committee will take the initiative to make Officer Wellness a priority and focus for all departments by seeking out classes, seminars, and guest speakers (often from the private sector) related to the #CareforBlue Initiative. They will focus on mental wellness, career mentoring, health/fitness, and wealth/finances.

Care for Blue focuses on four primary areas of Officer Wellness, emphasizing a holistic approach to helping our first responders have positive career experiences.

- Focus on financial wellbeing by understanding savings, credit scores, long-term financial planning, etc.
